Homebrew Rocket Bike

I have yet to get motivated enough to go bomb down a hill on a homemade ski bike as many of my cohorts have started doing lately. (Think a bike frame with downhill skis grafted onto it…more on this later.) But if I actually knew Tim Pickens or Glenn May, I’d be all over them to let me ride their rocket bike.

I think it reasonable to mention that these guys have a much better idea of what they’re doing that I would. (Pickens is president of rocket-design firm Orion Propulsion.) That said, this is still badass. 0 to 60 miles an hour in five seconds. Yeah.

This bike was featured in a single page article in Popular Science that says it cost them about $750 to build. Not too shabby. The PopSci article is okay, but short. This interview with Glenn May is far more interesting.
