Earth Nighttime on Google Maps

By • Feb 18th, 2006 • Category: Notable Web Stuff

NASA makes lots of high-res images of their assorted projects available on their website. I’ve always found the nighttime sat photos of the Earth fascinating. It’s neat to see how much light gets shot straight up showing more densely populated areas very clearly.

Since Google made the API to their mapping service available, all kinds of cool stuff has popped up using Google Maps as powerful component. Peter Pesti just pushed his integration of the map showing Earth lights at night. Very, very cool.
